This
project was built on the city campus and was a designed medium
security holding facility for the BPD. Police Custody Facilities
require a different approach by a general contractor because
of the use of the facility and it's occupants (owner, police
and held prisoners). The new building was located between 2
other existing buildings in the heart of the City of Bellevue's
main campus.
BNCC
performed site demolition, earthwork, and piling installations
prior to actual building component construction. Grade beams,
structural concrete slab and walls, masonry with colored plaster,
steel bar joists with pan decking, and a vinyl roof system became
the main building shell components. The interior consisted of
concrete and cmu walls, epoxy paint systems, special detention
systems (doors, hardware, cuff rails, glazing, security camera
systems, etc). special flooring/wall pad systems and specific
custom casework.
The
complexity of a security facility is great, with constant scrutiny
to all phases of construction. Because of our construction approach
and care, the owner elected to have our firm perform extensive
change work to site utilities during construction of the facility.
The facility was completed ahead of schedule and the owner occupied
the building several weeks early.
